Cheetah and leopard are the largest largest cats in Africa. They found in the African rocky jungles ,swamps ,forests and scrublands of southern to central Africa.Unlike most cats these big cats are at home on the ground or trees but also on the rocks.Most of these species are upto 2 metres long ,with a tail and cheetah can splint if going for its prey. Both of them has good comaouflage with the vegetation even rocks.Because of this mystery and illusiveness of these large cats ,they are also difficult to find! The cats' tawny golden coat splashed with black rosettes ,which enclose smaller spots ,helps it hide and then disappear into the shadows without being seen. I myself has difficult to distinguish a leopard and a cheetah ,with some say leopard has more spots than cheetah and cheetah is longer than leopard. But what if it is still younger you easily say its leopard than cheetah. However cheetah run faster than leopard.
The leopard can awaits for its prey while perched silently in the tree. With one powerful bite on the neck .It cuts the throat to suck the blood as it kills.
These cats are a great threat to attack human beings. Although park experts say you can walk on the forest without seen them ,but these cats can see you and ignore.
The cats once found roaming in mountainous areas all over Africa.Today ,they are very scarce and only left in the conserved areas. Longback hunters killed them in honour of the chiefs who want the spotted skins which they regarded gave them with much diginity and pride.
In zimbabwe the lion cheetah park was created just few kilometres outside Harare along Bulawayo road to protect the endangerd species like the big African cats as an efforts to preserve it.
