ZIMBABWE "The jewel of Africa"

In 1890 the British business magnet Cecil John Rhodes and his associates visited the plateau between Limpopo river to the south and Zambezi river to the north.They discussed the great economic potential of this land ranging from minerals ,warmth beautiful climate,good agricultural land and abundance of wild life.
One of Rhodes' medic and close friend Leander Jameson Described Zimbabwe as the country full of British' s economic interests.He called the area "the jewel of Africa" This inspired both the British and Boers to occupy the land during the height of the colonisation of Africa in order to grab tracts of land for the purpose of mining ,ranching ,wild life or general farming.
Today ,this relatively pristine part of southern Africa has magnificent of world heritage site the Great Zimbabwe ruins since 1986.
Zimbabwe has many ruins built by the local people before the foreign occupation.But the biggest of all is the the great site found in Masvingo province ,about 27 km from Masvingo city.Apart from ruins Zimbabwe has other major tourists attractions which include game parks,victoria falls ,eastern highlands and so on.
The water falls:
Zimbabwe's many water falls are great attractions .On the north- western tip of Zimbabwe lies the greatest falls which is on the seven wonders of the world. The British explorer David Livingstone name the falls Vitoria in honour of the popular British Queen at that time.Other water falls are found in eastern highlands which is the evergreen region of Zimbabwe with attractive vegetation serenity background.The eastern highlands is the coolest part of the country and is the habitat of over 80% of 630 bird species identified in Zimbabwe.This include over 65 species varieties of orchids ,as well as a wide range of trees,ferns ,bromeliads ,and vines.The eyes feasted on the colours and nose captured the fragrances of savored delicious fruits growing in the this areas which is known as "the little England" by the pioneer tourists .
Along this ever flooded streams there is sweet sounds of the falling water,which get louder with every step you take towards the sites.
Conservation of Natural Heritage:
Conservationists in Zimbabwe done best to preserve the species such as elephants,lions ,leopards,giraffe,pangolins ,cheetahs and other plain game animals.
Zimbabwe host over 630 species of birds,100 different mammals(almost equivalent these species found in North America)60 varieties of reptiles,and perhaps some kinds of butterflies and not to mention countless other insects.
The numerous rivers that sorround and drain the country are also filled with life ,including kinds of amphibians and fish species ,the major are breams,base,tiger,trout in eastern higlands .The country is a nature lover's paradise.
Because of the big cats like leopards and cheetahs ,many visitors have concerns about safety,and so do you.The administrators of National Parks and wild life has enough expert guides who has both the knowledge of tourist safety and how to control dangerous animals from hurting honourable visitors.
