The power generation and distribution of electricity is undertaken by the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA).
The bill to give private sector an opportunity to invest in power generation is still being debating in the Parliement .After the bill passed into law there is a lot of investment opportunities in power generation industry which is affected by lack of funds to operate to full capacity.
Currently Zimbabwe is relying on energy from Mozambique and DRC .Zesa acknowledges that adequate supply of power is the powerful way to ensure turnaround of economy.
Zimbabwe's power consumption is outstripping production .The basic sources of electricity are hydro and thermal power which are from Kariba and Hwange respectively.
WATER RESOURCES in Zimbabwe is Monitored by Zimbabwe National Water Authority(ZINWA) which facilitates government planning and development of country 's water resources.
The growth of population ,manufacturing industry , mining and agriculture ,have contributed to substantial increase in demand for water throughout the country.
Many large dams have been constructed to supply water to major cities ,however the local authorities are facing challenges of water treatment which is now gradually handover to private sectors to ensure clean water to the urbanites.
In rural areas the construction of dams and boreholes has been encouraged sometimes back in late 1980s by provision of donor funding ,expert technical services and financial inducements.
During the dacades of 1990s and 2000 the government policies of ESAP,ZIMPREST and sanctions until most rural people lack management of these dams, rivers and boreholes. The rural areas need rehabilitation of boreholes for easy safe drinking water.
There are thousand of small and medium sized dams and boreholes throughout the country some need to be revamped, each are adding to Zimbabwe 's water resources and improving the watering facilities for human and animal consumption and also providing for small irrigation schemes.
The major dams such as Mazwikadei dam about 80km from Harare has the capacity to irrigates 6000 ha .Mazhwe dam near Masvingo irrigate 3 500ha.Ozborne dam near Mutare irrigates 6000 ha.
There is still more investment necessary in water resources to put Zimbabwe economy on the wheels again.

Since 2000 there witnessed a further downturn in manufacturing output with the sectors output actually declining by atleast 10% as a result of international isolation and sanctions.
This trend is however reversed after the formation of All Inclusive Government and is likely to continue recovering in the agricultural, mining and general improvements to the investment environment and the downward trend in the rate of inflation.
The government blueprint STERP is expected to provide a lasting solution to the inflation and unemployment problems through increased investment and resulting higher levels of production.
