FREEDOM AND AUTHORITY IN THE PHILOSOPHY EDUCATION SYSTEM

Freedom is never total or absolute! Be careful not to trample other people's freedom as you exercise your own freedom. Freedom generally refers to peace ,independent, emancipation ,not depriving when exercising own wishes or rights. Thus freedom to the access of basic rights and fundamentals ,for instance freedom of speech, worship or choice.
Freedom is also described as absence of constraints ,restrictions ,limitations ,restraints thus allowance of being able to do what you want or exercising your free will as long as you aren't infringing other peoples' rights.
Freedom can be determined by time ,place or audience. The greatest Greek philosopher Plato onces says, ''Total freedom without any form of restrictions may lead to anarchy, chaos and a lot of disturbances''.
Therefore freedom becomes effective when the authority is exercised. These two cannot be seperated they are two sides of the same coin. For without authoritative imposition of rules and regulations freedom can only results into social upheavals or disasters.
Authority is the right and power to control something ,it is also the mandate of power given to govern and maintain order. Hence authority commands power or right to direct orders and make others obey them.
Whilst philosophy has been for some time seen concerned with the search for knowledge and wisdom. The branch also focused with giving meaning to human action ,language among their issues. Philosophy covers certain ideas of all human beings and inspired for irrespective of race or colour, equities ,democracy ,freedom and authority.
Therefore Education and authority is often associated with dogmatism and repression supported by threats ,deprivation of priviledges punishment (expulsion). Clef observes two contradictory (opposing demands) of Education ,thus demand for better freedom and increase of authority.
Education system demands for liberty and for the control and order. One may ask: ''Is it possible to have both freedom and authority at the same time?
There are two forms of freedom:
•Positive freedom to choose or associate of choice ,suppose in the form of constraints or control.
•Negative freedom from descrimination ,oppression, from threats abuse.
Authority is categorised into four groups:traditional ,legal ,personal and charismatic.
Traditional authority from tradition of our customs and values ,the law and power is handed from older generation to the succeeding generation ,this authority is conditioned by one's family or blood for example chiefs, father ,mother ,kings or employees.
Legal or rational authority comes from the law ,governments, courts ,police ,magistrates ,parliment ,judges ,teacher. Corporal punishment can be given to school children only from the headmaster or deputy or a delegeted teacher. Legal authority is derived from laws ,parliment, statutes teachers has legal rational authority.Schofied (1972:263)makes the observation that rulers and teachers passes legal rational authority .Both have to make laws and rules to guide content backed by authority.
Personal authority is derived through merit and Educational qualifications. The authority teacher possesses based on qualifications ,diplomas, certificates . Other personal authority is found in doctors, hair dresser, farmer ,dentist etc.
Charismatic authority is the ability to influence and convince others using 'unseen' powers and 'unseen' authority. Schofield(1972:262)says,''The most obvious possesser of charismatic authority is Jesus Christ himself ,he taught as one who has authority and not as the scribes''. Infact all religious founders Buddha ,Gandhi, Muhammad, Bab or socialists like Karl Max Lenin, Stalin are talented charismatic people.
Charismatic authority emergies naturally because ,it possesses special and qualities for example ,peer group ,star ,church leader among other charismatic leaders. These people are body without any authority ,but they gain it by being respected with others.

Learn to develop friendship with may people by following some of the suggestions below:

Remain connected, some people talk to their friends only once in a blue moon, they never comeback again to ask about life ,share jokes or just communicate in general. Imagine you say I have a friend which you talk to only once a year. Your friendship easily fades away and some of your friends never regards you as a friend. When you are on the social sites send messeges to your friends at a reasonable regular periods and give them jokes just for social interaction. For those who sell some products talk to them about your products how important are they in their life and if you have free things share them with your friends, you can give them free gifts in this way they recognise you as a mutual friend. But remember not all people like freebies. These days consumers buy brands that talk to them ,so your social account may be an engine that generate so many sales if you customise it.You need to talk with your friends in any matters of life, fearing that you may say wrong thing or make mistakes will limite you to find how powerful friendship is good to you.
Be helpful ,the needs of different friends vary always . But on different time friends may need help ,rather than a general offer. Be open to them and see you as a helpful friend. A friend in need is a friend indeed friends need help on how to do with household management ,that's anything to do with food, clothing ,shopping and money management in general ,don't worry to be an expert but be a jack of all trades ,master of none ,one day you will succeed. The few practical ways you share with your friends show that you care. Be dependable ,puntual and alert to meet commitments help to retain friendship easily. However when helping a friend don't assume that you know everything your friends need . Ask them and give your own suggestions within the limits of your knowledge or refer them to where they can get help. Help friends to be competent, not feel victimised or to be robots but to be reflective in their own right and rationality.
Be a good listener ,when sharing anything with a friend listen attentively and sympathetically . For you to be in a position to response to your friend's feelings is only when you are given enough information to take appropriate action. The only way to succeed is to get more information from your friends by listening attentively without interupting when a friend is talking. Friends are not necessarily look for answers only, but they also look for a friend who attended to them with an open heart and mind.
Be upbuilding ,if your are a positive friend your words and actions will likely reveal it. Always get to the situation where you first build your friendship .Relate to the needs which you feel drawn you to be friends not the other circumstances taking place later. Treat you friend as a simple normal person who needs interaction socially .Don't talk with him/her as if he/she is a stupid.A friend considers what you say and how you say it. The language you use, tone of your voice can affect friendship.
Be empathetic and considerate by putting yourself in the situation of your friends. If you are telling them about specific products as an example ,be genuine, trustworthy ,honesty and humble person before them. Don't force them to make the decisions that only promote your business rather than what they benefit them. The moment they realised that you are a hyena in sheep 's wools ,they easily desert you and never get another confidence to have friendship anymore.
Respect your friends' privacy never sell their emails to the scammers,or publicise them without their concerns, don't give out information unabated. Be a good socialiser and make a positive partner for the mutual growth of your friendship. One way of being considerate is balancing and good judgements that benefits both of you as friends .

The Importance of Friendship and how to have many Friends.

With the advent of social media networks anyone can easily have friendship with any person from any corner of the world and the internet technology make it possible to communicate with your friends using video calling at any time and at your convenience without any burdens of telephone bills except your internet subscriptions. The social sites like the twitter , facebook, Linkedln ,justlanded and many more which freely have software for members create accounts to look for friends according to their hobbies, profession, religious beliefs, status etc. By far the major social sites with over 500 million subscribers are twitter and facebook. It seems almost 60% interneters open their twitter and facebook accounts everyday saying out what is in their minds or posting tweets as it is known in the twitter.com. Have you ever think that making friends is as simple as just sign up to twitter or facebook or any other social site and update your profile to look for friends you may know or those related to your behaviours ,expertise ,interests and so on? There are no hard and fast rules to get as many friends as you want on the social sites. Cultural differences may not be involved and people's personalities may also differ greatly. But people may become friends and share everything they want for the mutual growth of their friendships. So the overriding need is for you to make friendship more powerful and helpful to you as much as possible. Some people who were unemployed for some time get employment through friends on the facebook. They constantly communicate with their friends ,but at the end of every conversation they remind them that they are not employed. By so doing some friends sent them groceries, money and ended up offered employment by friends. A good friend always put himself/herself in the friend's place and find out what he or she really needs from you.How can you be a good friend in deeds.

WE ARE NOW CONNECTED AND SOCIALISE THROUGH SOCIAL SITES

The visitors to the great social sites per day are estimated to near 100 000 000 mark and they share ideas ranging from religious, social ,employment ,business ,fun and political to name just a few. The world economy is now boasted by the way people interact and share ideas on ways they can apply to improve their life lest not to mention national or regional economies. The trends of of traffic generated in the social sites like twitter ,facebook ,likedln ,digg or squidoo .We now also realised that over billion people opt to make connections through social networking online to look for information ,share it or write valuable news and facts concerning different sectors of the economy and the society at large. While in general ,social interaction in human community was regarded as a wonderful medium in which to make socialisation ,friendship ,show affection and love possible. In this contemporary times it is possible for the civilisation ,industrialisation and language development. Even companies to survive the need to market their brands through social media. Sellers are now eying the search engine of facebook and twitter for example to reach much audience for more sales. Sales of merchandise acknowledges 10 folds increase in sales for those companies followed the online social media marketing of their products. Because of the lucrative social media for social interaction consumers are now opt to buy brands that speak back to them through blogging which squeeze their way through in the social sites. In a mood of companionship and interactive direct communication it is now simple to understand the essential sense of being connected as people. Recently I read an article which said ,the Nigerian Leader Mr Jonathan became the first African president to talk with supporters through the facebook. Beyond the community interaction the only possible option since before the advent of internet wizzards is to form social community clubs ,go to the beerhalls or engage in social sport ,but only limited to a very small community. With the wonders of internet technology people are now connected globally to share ideas conviently almost anytime of the day without much problems of distances away and diferent nationality. The social sites provides us with an opportunity to reconsider our common humility.Though there might be several ways which divided us in mankind's history , the horrors of imperialism, colonilism, slave trade, apatheid etc, all this are now blind folded by the actual truth that we are all connected as one people through the social media either as sellers ,writers ,searchers readers, employers or employees. We are one family,as emphasised by the charismatic US Barak Obama on his inaugral speech says," We are united by common purpose" so human thoughts need to be prepared for a reign of harmony ,for godly love to be experienced in the affairs of nations ,as ever before. The world through being united into a global village which become an indoubtable reality in the social sites which help us to live under common principle to fight racism, terrorism, hooliganism ,poverty, global warming etc. These calamities never end until we show sense of togetherness as in the as people we share information online to promote moral values all over the world for the goal of achieving world peace and development. In this concept of one world ,one family ,one people ,like in the tweets or walls we shared online , masterminded by the administrators and others who monitored it to ensure promotion of moral obligation when sharing information without spamming to protect billions who need to get clean information that help their life to develop when visiting their sites and make contacts is and invaluable source of guidance and inspiration. The fascination and inspiration shown in social media by individuals and different peoples, absolutely indicate a mood of appreciation.

Establishing a Home Vegetable Garden

What is a garden?A place set aside for recreation, relaxation and cultivation of plants for beauty and utility. It includes any piece of ground whether a small strip or a larger area .If real effort has been made to take it back from nature by eliminate plants, weeds and cultivate it becomes a beautiful garden. How much does it cost? The more effort you put into it ,the more you are likely to get from it.Justification for the need of a gardern at Home: •it provides us with vegetables that gives us nutritious food. •families save money through growing their own vegetables. •fresh vegetables can made available easily •surplus vegetables can be grown and sold to be a good source of income for the family. •a hobby to enjoy . •people get a real sense of achievement in producing their own vegetables. Challenges in starting a garden: ♠fences are usually essential and are very expensive. ♠vegetables need fertilisers inorganic or organic, pesticides which also need money or livestock to provide with manure. ♠lack of water supply and manpower to maintain moisture. ♠great deal of manual work is needed, time and special attention. Steps in Setting up a Vegetable garden: •choosing the site, •fence it ,acquire garden tools ,clear the site, and •preparing the ground. What to consider when sitting a Vegetable Garden? •permanent water source, •the site should have good soil which is suitable for vegetable growth.Free from rocks and broken bottle pieces, soils without rocks and bottles are easy to work.Deep soils allow roots to freely spread out to promote vegetable growth, •should not be under the trees, houses and easy access to save money, •should be near the kitchen, •wind protection is useful to conserve moisture and plant growth.Plant hedge or line trees to act as wind break, •sunshine should be plenty to promote plant growth ,and •road should be well maintained to easily reach or ferry the produce to the market. Garden location:The ideal place is a level ground with good drainage ,but slopping site can also be used, as terraces can be constructed.Avoid creating low-lying spots at all cost .There are likely to be water logged after heavy rains. Good drainage is essential in vegetable garden ,since no crops will tolerate wet for a very long period except rice and sugarcane.Too much moisture has detrimental effects to the plant growth, because roots need air to function properly. If large area is affected by poor drainage or if the soil is heavy like clay ,it may be necessary to lay on more pipes to lead the water away to the lowest point. Garden layout: There are many methods of laying out a vegerable garden and each has its advantages and disadvantages: ♦Open method is where you dig the whole area ,plant different crops side by side in rows with no demarcated points. This method is very effective where there is a lot of rainfall throughout the year and there is little or no watering is required once the plants are established. Also the method is particularly suitable for level ground or ground with slight slope.Because of conservation cropping it encourages a lot of run off causing a lot of soil erosion and loss of soil nutrients by leaching, ♦Use of plant beds or ridges are often used in areas with well defined season ,each plant bed is for a particular crop. There is a lot of soil disturbance and threat to maintenance of soil nutrients and moisture, ♦Use of permanent plant bed situated within the framework of bricks ,concrete ,asbestos off cuts or treated poles. It is suitable for smaller gardens and garden situated on high slopes .The plants may allow high plant population and reduce soil erosion. To maintain good soil structure no tillage even with a hole is necessary only to pull weeds and use of 40%mulching is suitable to hold ,soil, moisture and fertility. It can discourages other plant seeds because of abandant crop growth, ♦Furrow Irrigation is used in areas where there is a lot of water ,since water is usually directed to flow into the furrows usually from a canal, and ♦Ridges can also be used in abandance of rainfall or water source .The ridges are raised to avoid a lot of water logged to save plants roots for respiration and to grow well. Size of the garden:The garden size can be determined by the family size, amount of land available ,water source ,market and resources that are affordable. Value of the Garden:Provide family with fresh vegetables.Decorative and generates income for the family.Saves money and can be an area of exercising after tedious office work and in the morning and late afternoon after and before a comfortable sleep.Or utilising the open space at our homes to plant valuable crops best for our family's nutritional and decorative needs.

Over stressed is threat to our Mental and physical wellbeing

Human life is composed of purposes ,assignments ,targets ,hassles ,problems ,challenges ,frustrations and demands which clicks in our minds to act as long as we are living.
The need to fulfil what life demands us to do are some forms of stress. Stress is good as it help us to perform under different levels of pressure and get both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation to do our best.
Stress has some advantages in our lives as it makes us have the ability to cover some of our challenges laid before us. For example if there is something need to be accomplished take for example the need to process orders for customers, or doing school assignments. Stress clicks in our minds to produce a hormine called adrenaline from adrenal glands which helps to carry out the tasks set before us.
More frequently stress involve us in numerous anxious activities , emergency modes overstressed our body as it become frazzled and overwhelmed. However if you realised it is necessary to organise yourself back to your conscience to bring the nervous system into balanced normality.
Over stressed is caused by many different things ranging from our regular work, poor family relationship, lack of funds ,unemployment ,boredom, psycho-activities and some situations. If we failed to get possible solution to some of the challenges we encounter in life sooner than later they turn to be our problems which over stressed us resulted in symptoms of pain of any kind ,heart ,digestive ,sleep problems or diseases like obesity ,autoimmune and eczema(skin conditions).
Overstressed is the most dangerous threat to our health and wellbeing. Since in many occassions , we failed to manage some challenges laid ahead us.For instance someone cannot able to cope with financial problems at home because of limited income to meet with price hikes in basic commodities, rates ,bills ,school fees etc.Long term stressful situations may cause us to accumulate anxiety, having muscle tensions, increased blood pressures or disturbance in food digestions. Stressful people generally find that tension never goes away it remains part of our mental and physical problems.
Medical practitioners used to point out that the body's reactions to stress, as nuerochemicals and hormones rushes through entire body ,preparing every organ and system for the red alert stress response. Our senses sight ,hearing ,smelling ,tasting and touching are strongly involved. The brain instantly release adrenaline hormones through adrenal glands which helps muscles ,heart ,lungs and other body parts to be relieved from stress by subconciously respond to the intentions.
Hence during times of emergency our bodies help us to respond to save our lives , like when we face the oncoming vehicle we respond unconsciously to safety.
The unmanageable stress threaten our health and our body do not function well. Thus endangering poor coordination of body parts in respond to certain stimuli. Muscles remain tense, pulse rates and blood pressure abnorm at peak points . This consequently accumulate levels of cholestro, fats, sugars ,hormones or any other chemicals within our blood streams.
The high levels of these chemicals in our bodies affect its regulated system, hence involve us into frequent backaches ,headaches ,muscle spasms of the neck and muscle tension .
These symptoms which are related to chronic stress ,hamper body's productivity and creativity as well as dilute away our happiness and damage our social relationships. Unmanageable stress resulted in development of irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea and other related illness. The chronic stress also outburst stroke, kidney failure, heart problems and diabetes as perpetuated by this uncontrollable prolonged stress.
In addition severe stress linked to depression ,aggression and burnout. If constantly remained unchecked, stress can become permanently retarded our memory's functions and threaten levels of concentration. Some researches also discovered that long term stress has detrimental consequences to our immune system , as it seriously makes us vulnarable to common cold, cancer and numerous immuno diseases.Out of control stress has negative impacts to our well-being whether mentally, spiritually ,emotionally and spiritually. Therefore stress should be placed at a manageable level within ourselves,so that we remain productive ,creative ,enthusiastic and healthy.
How to control stress differs from one person to another and it also depends on different factors which includes:
♦Living with suppoetive friends and family members who instills in you a sense control , encourage you to have sense of self in confidence ,yourself ,in belief ,purpose to empower the abilities to influence situations and persevere in difficulty challenges.
♦An optimistic attitude person who embrace challenges with sense of humour and accept life as it depends on changes both good and bad ,who believes in self and focus on a specific purpose is less stressed.
♦Good control of emotions such as feelings of sad, angry ,afraid and bring back from adversity is likely to tolerate stressful conditions.
♦Having knowledge of other people's experiences and how the cope with different situations in life help also to manage our stress and appreciate the way our life is in faith honesty and trust.

Acacia xanthopholoea: Tree species believed to be associated with malaria diseases!

Acacia xanthopoloea tree species found in mant parts of Zimbabwe and Mozambique was believed to be the habour of malarial pathogens by the European explorer pioneers who visited these two countries during their risk adventures. Even the local people also came to accept such a belief. This became a myths for many centuries until one braved nough to prove it wrong.
This was similar to what a great philosopher Alistotle said , a spider has six legs,no one bothered to verify is for over 2000 years until Lamark proved that a spider has eight legs.
This is the same with the fever tree ,its botanical name is Acacia xanthopholoea and the Chishona name is Chinanga or Mutataunga.
The fever tree's name derivation is that the European who visited some places in Zimbabwe and Mozambique where this tree species are densely populated oftenly they got sick of malaria. However there were so many places where this tree species found such places like Harare,Mutare,Bindura ,concession where there is no outbreak of malaria diseases.
In fact it takes the proof of medical doctors to acknowledge that only anopheles (female)mosquito is the only insect which carry malarial pathogens and spread them to human beings by spitting its saliva before suckling blood.
The fever tree is a medium to tall which is well shaped with height ranges from 10 to 15 metres.Other species can have upto 25 metres in height.
This species usually favour swampy areas where usually mosquitoes breed and this is the major reason why these explorer concluded in their minds that this tree is a fever tree.
Barks are smooth slightly flaking,greenish-yellow to yellow. The collectors described these barks as evil, pallid ,leprous ,stickly and sinister.Stipules spinescent ,the spines white ,straight upto 7 cm in length. This stipules ,spines is the name derivation of the Shona people "CHINANGA OR CHITATAUNGA" because when pass through these bushes you will obviously hooked and bitten severely.
Leaves are with 4 to 7 pairs of yellow balls and are usually fully developed in September to November .
Fruits are small pods which are up to 13x1,4 cm,pale brown, straight ,thin and rather papery with seeds oftenly break starting in January.
The wood is hard ,heavy and is used by local people in building purposes as well as fuelwood.
The tree produce a smell when it is still fresh ,the flowers are best used by bees to make honey .The honey is discovered to be on heart problems as it contain medicines of different functions .
whilst the stipules small branches used some time back as reliable fence known as 'ruzhowa',and others are still using it as fencing their homes or gardens to protect animals from disturbing their orchards and other crops.
These tree species are found in many places of Zimbabwe , densely scattered south east of Zimbabwe in thick woodlands in Mozambique areas and other parts in Southern Africa.
